Baked Brie with Maple Spiced Pecans

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pecan pieces
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • For the baked brie
  • 2 tbsp cup apple butter
  • 4 fresh sage leaves
  • Flaky sea salt, for finishing
  • Sliced apples, crackers and toasted baguette, for serving

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper. Add the pecan pieces to a medium bowl and top with melted butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice and salt. Mix well to coat.
  2. Spread the pecans into an even layer and bake for 15-18 minutes, stirring halfway through. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  3. Increase the oven temperature to 350°F. Place the Brie in a small oven-safe baking dish or skillet. Spoon the apple butter over the top, leaving a small border around the edge.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the Brie is soft to the touch, like a water balloon
  5. Remove the Brie from the oven and generously pile the candied pecans over the apple butter. Finish with sage and a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  6. Serve immediately with crisp apple slices, crackers and toasted baguette.
